My footsteps the only sounds that echo Amidst the crowds that stumble past Their drunken stupors bringing life to the night But the silence in my mind screams its soundless protests. What was made dark and quiet Now a den of wolves Their eyes vacant, but gleaming With hope that at least for tonight They will not be alone. Mere minutes pass But hours have gone by As the train in my head has nowhere to go But into the past where Solitude Sat on his throne Oppressive and absolute The currents still but the waves defy The calm that once was peaceful thought And the memory of time long gone Fades back into its palace Conscious thought returns
